About
The Author

Jason Nacey was born in Deadwood, South Dakota, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Deadwood remains a cherished connection to his roots—a place where childhood adventures in the surrounding mountains instilled a lasting appreciation for exploration and pushing boundaries.

Described as innovative, sociable, supportive, and diplomatic, Jason naturally excels at bringing people together and inspiring them toward greater achievements. His openness to new experiences and ability to adapt creatively have been foundational in both his career and personal endeavors.

Jason is an all-or-nothing person. When something captures his interest, he dives in completely. He has never been one to dabble. This passionate intensity has shaped his journey, from award-winning filmmaking and international video production to leading athlete and sponsorship programs in sports marketing.

Jason lives by the mantra, Nobody else is coming to solve your problems. This philosophy, developed during his youth when resources were limited but creativity abundant, drives his belief that success is 90% above the shoulders. He proved this firsthand when, after someone doubted his ability to finish an Ironman triathlon, he signed up immediately—despite initially struggling to swim even a short distance. His resilience carried him through the Ironman, two Spartan World Championships, and some of North America's most challenging mountain climbs.

Despite his sociable nature, Jason openly acknowledges his fear of public speaking, a barrier he continuously conquers by practicing the resilience techniques detailed in this book. What looks like natural confidence often isn't—it's about showing up despite the fear.

For years, Jason resisted writing this book, telling himself he wasn't a writer and had no business discussing mindset without formal credentials. The book kept calling to him, and he kept ignoring it. Then one day he realized he was breaking his own rule—tackling hard challenges is central to who he is. This book became his own test case in controlling narrative and mindset. Today, Jason lives in North Carolina with his wife and their four children, where he continues refining these principles of mental toughness. His journey—including the creation of this book—proves that the gap between impossible and inevitable is much shorter than most realize, and exists primarily above the shoulders.
